The Clare Family Learning Project was the first group in Ireland to include maths into Family Learning specifically, using everyday living experiences for children to use as part of their maths learning.
The original Clare Family Learning 1994 book had aspects of numeracy included in it.
The Family Learning Resource Pack has a book on Everyday Maths, focusing on the needs of parents of children 0-7.
In Autumn 2006, The Clare Family Learning Project completed a Numeracy Storybag Course with Traveller women. One of the surprising things was that the women were much more comfortable with numbers (0-10) used in the books, than with storybooks.
Supporting parents of primary school children with Maths in the curriculum which has been run in various parts of the county, in some cases with primary schools.
Making Maths Fun is supporting school learning through fun activities including play and making numeracy games.
We have developed a model to support parents of incoming first years in second level schools. Parents want to know what the core maths topics are to give their children a hand if they need help. This was delivered once a week for one hour in conjunction with a one hour computer course in Spring 2007. Parents have requested more sessions.
