The Clare Family Learning Newsletter - Winter 2007
Wishing everyone a wonderful 2008.
Key events and news:
· Family Learning Tutor Training, Ennis, 17th and 18th January €120 including light lunch.
· FACE-IT! (Family and Active Citizenship Education - an Integrated Training) February 27th, 28th, 29th February 2008. Ennis. €200 including light lunches.
‘How to develop a family approach to active citizenship’.
· Funding received for Delivering Equality of Opportunity in Schools (DEIS) as part of a pilot project with the Department of Education and Science. Planning programme at present.
· Large increase in demand for English Language support from primary schools. Migrant parents need to understand the Irish school system and the language of school and learning.
· Very successful Fun Science Experiments with Dads and Lads in two locations.
· Great interest from Parents in Supporting Your 1st year students Maths at 2nd Level - four Programmes around the county.
· First group of FETAC Level 3 accredited Family Learning participants were presented with their certificates in October.
· New materials and resources for Tutors to use with learners displayed at a Family Learning In-service December 17th.
· The project would like to welcome the new part-time tutors on board this term and a special welcome to Clare Sheahan who is the new Family Learning Resource Tutor.
